West Community Credit Union receives AARP BankSafe Trained Seal

O’Fallon, Mo. – West Community Credit Union is proud to announce that they have been awarded the AARP BankSafe Trained Seal in recognition of their commitment to promote financial safety for their members. Particularly, older adults who may be more vulnerable to financial scams and exploitation. To earn the esteemed seal, over 80% of West Community’s frontline staff completed- AARP’s comprehensive Bank Safe Training and adopted additional policies and procedures to further address suspected financial exploitation.

Based on a Virginia Tech study, it is estimated that BankSafe-trained employees have helped prevent nearly $300 million from being stolen from the accounts of older adults since 2019. These BankSafe-trained employees play a crucial role in protecting over 230 million customers across the U.S.
