Florissant, MO – West Community Credit Union was delighted to collaborate with art teachers from three Hazelwood School District elementary schools. Fourth and fifth graders from Lawson Elementary, McCurdy Elementary and Walker Elementary were invited to submit artwork for this year’s “Imagine” Art Contest. Students were encouraged to depict what “Imagine” meant to them.
All 40 submissions of artwork were put on display in West Community’s Florissant branch located at 18 Mullanphy Gardens Shopping Center. Credit union members, family and friends were invited to visit the branch and vote for their favorite piece. Nearly 100 votes were received, and a prize was awarded to the winner from each school.
The winners were announced at a reception hosted at the credit union on Saturday, April 27th with students, teachers, and family members in attendance. The three winners were awarded $50 to open a Kids Savings Account along with a certificate. All artists received $10 and a participant certificate.
“I’m continually amazed and inspired by the creativity of the kids who participate each year, and we love showcasing their work in our branch,” said Devin Cromwell, Florissant Branch Manager. “I encourage each and every one of them to always embrace their self-expression and let their imaginations soar.”
“As a community-based credit union, we commit to supporting our local schools and students in a consistent manner”, said Stephanie Tyler, West Community Credit Union’s Community and Business Development Representative. “The relationships between educators, parents and community members are what keeps our community strong and makes it a wonderful place to live, work and play.”
