West Community Credit Union Hosts 5th Annual Art Contest for Hazelwood School District

Florissant, MO – West Community Credit Union proudly partnered with art teachers from four Hazelwood School District elementary schools for its 5th Annual Art Contest. Fourth and fifth graders from Cold Water, McNair, Walker, and Lawson Elementary Schools submitted artwork inspired by this year’s theme, “What Would You Save For?”

All entries were displayed at West Community’s Florissant branch, where members, families, and the community were invited to vote for their favorite pieces. Winners were announced during a pizza reception attended by students, families, educators, and community leaders, including Mayor Tim Lowery and his wife Laurie, City Council members Andrew Harris, Joe Eagan, and Paul Manganelli, new appointed Superintendent Dr. Bonita E. Jamison, School Board Member Betsy Rachael, and participating principals and art teachers.

Each school winner received $50 to open a Kids Savings Account and a certificate, while all participating students received $10 and a certificate.

“It was inspiring to see how deeply these students reflected on what matters most,” said Stephanie Tyler, Community and Business Development Representative. “Students shared powerful messages of hope and compassion through their work, with many focusing on building homes for those experiencing homelessness and finding cures for cancer. These young artists demonstrated a strong sense of community.”

“It has been wonderful having this artwork displayed in our branch and sharing it with our members,” said Deatra Baker, Florissant Branch Manager. “The creativity and thoughtfulness behind each piece made this year’s contest truly special.”

West Community Credit Union remains committed to supporting local schools and fostering creativity through strong community partnerships.
