West Community Credit Union Helps Advance Community Impact Through $20,000 in Donations to Junior Achievement and Veterans Community Project

O’Fallon, Mo. – West Community Credit Union is proud to announce two $10,000 donations to Junior Achievement and Veterans Community Project, made possible through funding received from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) Member Impact Fund.

The donations support two organizations that are creating meaningful change throughout the St. Louis region by empowering young people with financial and career education and providing critical services and housing support to veterans experiencing homelessness.

Supporting Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in work and life through programs focused on financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship. The $10,000 donation will help expand opportunities for local students to gain real-world experiences and build confidence in their financial futures.

“Support from community partners like West Community Credit Union helps us provide students with the skills and confidence they need to build brighter futures,” said Tracie Roberson, Senior Development Manager. “This generous donation will directly impact the young people we serve by expanding access to programs that prepare them for successful careers, financial independence and lifelong achievement.”

Supporting Veterans Community Project

Veterans Community Project serves veterans through innovative housing solutions and comprehensive support services designed to help those experiencing housing instability achieve long-term success. The $10,000 contribution will help further the organization’s mission of ensuring that every veteran has access to safe housing and the resources needed to thrive.

“Every investment in Veterans Community Project is an investment in the veterans we serve,” said Deshauna Barber-Echols, Executive Director. “This gift from West Community Credit Union will help us continue providing critical housing and support services that empower veterans to regain stability, rebuild their lives and achieve long-term success.”

“Organizations like Junior Achievement and Veterans Community Project are making a lasting difference in our communities every day,” said Lori Hudson, Community Engagement Manager of West Community Credit Union. “We are honored to support their important work and grateful to FHLB Des Moines for providing funding that allows us to strengthen our investment in organizations that create opportunities and improve lives.”

Partnering Up to Build Stronger Communities

The donations were made possible through the FHLB Des Moines Member Impact Fund, an up to 3:1 matching grant program that encourages partnerships between member financial institutions and eligible nonprofit organizations or government entities. The program is part of the Bank’s voluntary funding initiatives designed to increase support for underserved and financially vulnerable populations while promoting affordable housing and community development.

“At West Community, our commitment to people helping people extends beyond traditional banking services,” said Hudson. “By partnering with organizations that share our values, we can help create stronger communities and expand opportunities for those who need them most.”

West Community Credit Union remains committed to supporting local organizations that enhance financial well-being, strengthen neighborhoods and improve quality of life throughout the communities it serves.
