Best Place to Buy a Home
According to a reports on Niche.com, Brentwood, Missouri is Ranked #1 on their “Best Suburbs to Buy a Home in St. Louis Metro” and #2 “Best Suburb to Buy a Home in Missouri.” This grade takes into account key factors of a location’s housing market, including home values, taxes, crime, and public education, in an attempt to measure the quality and stability of an area’s housing market.
Brentwood’s median home value is $184,600, and its monthly housing cost is $1,176. The home value to income ratio is 2.7 to 1, and 35.6 percent of its residents are between the ages of 25 and 44.
Best Place to Start a Business
Nerdwallet looked at 117 places in Missouri, each with a population of at least 5,000, then calculated the overall score for each location based on the business climate and economic health using data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Brentwood ranked in at #3!
At only 1.5 square miles, Brentwood is the smallest city in the top 10 by population, with just over 8,000 residents. But its daytime population swells to nearly triple that number due to employment at retail outlets and companies. Among the 117 places analyzed, Brentwood has the third-highest percentage of businesses with paid employees.

Best Place to go to School
The Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education released its 2015 report cards on the academic health of Missouri school districts with its Annual Performance Reports (APR) Friday, and the Brentwood School District topped the St. Louis area with a 99.3 percent score.
The Missouri Department of Education, the APR outlines performance based on five standards for K-12 districts and charter schools:
- Academic achievement
- Subgroup achievement (includes students receiving free/reduced price lunch, African American and Hispanic students, English Language Learners and students with disabilities)
- High school readiness (K-8 districts) and College and Career Readiness (K-12 districts)
- Attendance rate
- Graduation rate (K-12 districts)
